Painted furniture: everybody's doing it!
Upcycled furniture is hot right now. Even the big furniture companies are carrying furniture designed to look like upcycled furniture. You can find reimagined furniture in Etsy shops, in antique malls, in boutiques, EVERYWHERE. Some of it is very well done and will last for years; some not so much. And when it's a distressed piece, it can be hard to tell the difference.
I approach my painted furniture as I do cabinets. Each piece gets careful preparation. I use the same products as well: high quality professional paint and glaze designed especially for furniture and cabinets. Every vintage dresser or revamped coffee table will be beautiful and durable: a real heirloom piece. I offer completed pieces for sale, or I can give your furniture a new look. See my Catalog of Cabinet/Furniture Finishes for ideas, but, as always, the possibilities are not limited to those pictured. If you find something, take a picture. It can probably be reproduced.
To purchase my furniture creations or those of other talented artists, visit TheArtisanMarkets.com, From here you can link to the Facebook group (for free) of a market in your region or regions throughout the US, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and Australia. Join just your local group, or join them all! It's up to you. New pieces are added daily and you deal directly with the artist. NO MIDDLEMAN(WOMAN). Artisan Markets serves only as a virtual marketplace for professional artists who love to paint furniture and people who love to own beautiful, one of a kind pieces.
A note about painting antiques. This is a hotly debated topic. Here's where I stand. If a piece has historical value, don't paint it. That's about it. Sometimes, pieces are in bad shape and they are destined for the dumpster or a bonfire. Upcycling gives them to another generation.
